Our Story

After experiencing terrible customer support from a large and well respected internet retailer, Lance Rosenzweig and David Nash founded PeopleSupport in 1998 with the idea of vastly improving dot-com customer support.  PeopleSupport pioneered the concept of supporting online consumers via chat and email while the consumers surfed the web – a revolutionary idea at the time when most internet surfers had one phone line that was connected to the internet over a dial-up connection.  A phone call would have meant disconnecting from the internet and significantly decreasing the likelihood of an online transaction.

PeopleSupport grew rapidly within two years to become a leading provider of customer support for internet companies.  In 2000, however, the dot-com "bubble" burst and many of PeopleSupport’s early clients went out of business.  PeopleSupport needed to adapt to a new business environment.  Fortunately, PeopleSupport had a vision for a business model based on a new opportunity – the concept of globalization and its impact on customer management services.

PeopleSupport was one of the first outsourcing companies to open operations in the Philippines , and was once again a pioneer in the evolution of customer management services.  At the same time, the PeopleSupport expanded its services to offer a comprehensive set of customer support, including voice-related support, and other BPO services. With a new and very compelling value proposition, PeopleSupport targeted large and financially stable companies, and the company soon increased revenues significantly.

The Philippines has become widely recognized by corporate America as a premier location for voice-based services.  PeopleSupport benefited from substantially lower wage rates in the Philippines and gained access to a large pool of skilled, college-educated English speaking professionals, as well as abundant and cost-effective telecommunications linking the Philippines with the U.S.

PeopleSupport focused on providing high performance BPO services consisting of high quality performance, world-class operations and technology and a highly trained team to specialize in up-selling and cross-selling additional products and services for clients.  PeopleSupport was able to offer a much better service, while cutting costs and, in some cases, becoming a profit center rather than a cost center for clients.  By 2004, PeopleSupport was ready for its IPO.

Since its IPO, PeopleSupport has expanded its operations rapidly in the Philippines , opened new centers in Costa Rica for Spanish and bilingual services, and expanded its service offering to include ARM, transcription and captioning and other back-office services.  In 2007, PeopleSupport aligned its operations along key vertical industries where the company has deep industry domain knowledge and expertise.

PeopleSupport continues to lead the offshore business process outsourcing (BPO) by aligning its operations provider along key vertical industries:

  • Travel & Consumer
  • Financial
  • Healthcare & Insurance
